Here, here for progress! Nothing happens without it. And if you can enjoy the process and have "fun," that's icing on the cake.
The other day I needed a talking to. I was feeling overwhelmed and slightly anxious about the many projects and commitments I said "yes" to. Could I get them done? Could I do them calmly, intentionally, while enjoying the process?
I said, "Linda, you always make your deadlines. What are you worrying about? And if you keep worrying, you won't enjoy the process. You have the time you need to do the things you are committed to doing. So cut it out. You've got this. Enjoy the process and the progress!"
Amazing, Linda! I LOVE what you told yourself! Reminding ourselves of what we've been capable of in the past is such a gift. I'm holding this close this week.
While I'm here, I have to tell you that my phrase of the year inspired by you — "Solid Incremental Progress" (or SIP!) — has been serving me SO well. After a suggestion from James Clear's book, I printed out a blank bar graph chart and now, every time I reach out to a potential client or connector, I get to fill in a bar. I'm aiming for one a day. It should probably be 5-10 a day, but I'm working with "done is better than perfect and not done". In the last few weeks, I've reached out to twice as many people as I did in the WHOLE of 2024. And all along, at the top of my computer, is the little reminder: SOLID INCREMENTAL PROGRESS.
Wowww, I am seeing this visual in my mind and it must be so powerful to fill out and watch unfold. Solid incremental progress > intermittent bursts. Thank you for putting it into practice!
