So many non-deadline tasks and projects waiting.... But I will commit to getting the preliminary sketch of the dumptruck painting onto the canvas by 3 pm (Central Time) tomorrow. Thanks, Kara, for all the motivation, poetry, and interesting links! I always look forward to Brass Ring Daily.

I did it--not quite by 3pm (aka 4pm Eastern), but by 3:45, when I had to call the optometrist. Just colored pencil lines on the canvas, but harder than I thought to get them right. Everything after this builds on those faint blue marks. I need to lay down "strong bones" so the essence of the image comes through unimpeded. Thanks for your interest and for the extra motivation, Kara! It's fun to read what everyone else is aiming for too.

You did it!! I'm inspired by your progress and commitment. And appreciate your idea of laying down "strong bones" — nothing good was ever built without a strong foundation. Keep me posted on your progress!

Oh I didn't even know this existed and I was doing it! Today by 2:30 pm (because I have plans to leave the office then) I will finish my review of my LinkedIn profile draft that I paid a writer to help me develop more than THREE MONTHS AGO! I started reviewing last night in a burst of energy, and now I must finish! Thanks Kara for the prompt! xoxo Meg

Love this deadline-driven goal, and you are going to feel SO GOOD removing that three-month-old weight sitting on your shoulders. Go go go!

I'm reading this on Friday, 2/17 - Yikes! I'm giving myself (3) options to finish ONE of them by 3p (CT): 1) Call Dan (bank guy, been on my reminders list for a couple years); 2) make hair cut appt (it will be 8 weeks on 2/28 and I hate this last haircut); 3) Order books (from local bookstore; I was given a gift card last year). They've all been nagging at me. Got to click off one of those voices! Thanks, Kara.

“Click off one of the voices” is the perfect way of putting it. Choose and click! Let me know how it goes!

Loved the line about complimenting the color of a stranger's coat. One day when I was leaving the library a random woman complimented my "hairstyle". This was great because I don't think I've "styled" my hair since high school prom, and I definitely didn't "style" it that day. Still, her comment boosted my mood and improved my day, and it was so easy for her to do. I try to offer those kinds of compliments when they come to me, too. Because it's easy to do. And there's the potential to make someone's day better. As for my Friday deadline. Done! I had a thing I started and finished yesterday, even though I had a full week to stretch it out and agonize over it. Now it's done and I can work on something new!

That's such a lovely gift, to pay a compliment like that forward. It can change someone's entire day! And way to go on knocking off that deadline immediately -- I'm inspired!

Thanks for the deadline! This is great. Though, not entirely sure what I want to be sure to accomplish by it... I have lots of undone things on my to do list this week!

Me too! I'm going to try and just choose *one* for now -- that way if I finish it, I'll get the glow of finishing, and can move to the next. Can you tell the "choosing" is always my biggest block? haha.

A non-deadline task I've been putting up for MONTHS is backing up my laptop and my phone, sorting out all my cloud storage, making sure all my photos are saved, etc. I'm honestly not sure how long it's going to take, but this is me committing to setting aside a chunk of time to get it done on Friday!

Oooh, I feel you on this one! Go get it! Even getting started will feel so much better than the pre-task, putting-it-off dread. Let me know how it goes, please!

I needed this deadline! By Friday at 4PM, I am going to revise to page 200 of my novel manuscript.

While I had the best of intentions, I didn't do any of the 3 things that I mentioned. Instead, I dropped off a pile of Goodwill stuff that I've been collecting for a year and that were taking up space in the trunk of the car. At least something got done. ha!

That’s a major one!! And now you have a mini list of other things you’d like to do, too. It all counts!
