Oh, hi friends!
Tiny moments of satisfaction.
Look, the bed is made.
Checking in with whoever needs a check-in.
Complimenting the color of a stranger's coat.
Clicking publish.
Packing a snack.
Making the call.
Finding your cursor at the bottom of the page, when this morning you were at the top.
Sharing your toast.
Wrestling the thing you’ve put off for two, wait now it's three, years.
Planning tomorrow.
Tiny moments of personal satisfaction. The doing of what needs to be done, not for praise or external purpose, but for the synaptic glow of pride that you feel in yourself, for yourself. Proof. I did it and it's done.
You control the tiny moments. The big ones, too. But the tiny ones make up your day.

Things take the time they take. Don’t worry.

What Would You Like to Do By Friday?
A friend recently completed one of those annoying-and-unenviable tasks she’d been putting off for a few years. (Remaking her website.)
This got me thinking: What kind of deadline do you need for your non-deadline tasks?
And a further think led me to this: What if I gave us a group deadline of this Friday?
Perhaps not relevant for you right now. But maybe…relevant for some?
Our deadline for the thing: Friday, February 17, 2023 at 4 p.m. ET
The thing you’ve been putting off, the thing you don’t want to take into the weekend, the thing that might take 20 minutes, the thing that might take four hours.
If you need a deadline, there it is. And if you need some “say it out loud” accountability, hit reply and tell me what you’re doing or let me know in the comments.
Cheering you on, always.
So many non-deadline tasks and projects waiting.... But I will commit to getting the preliminary sketch of the dumptruck painting onto the canvas by 3 pm (Central Time) tomorrow. Thanks, Kara, for all the motivation, poetry, and interesting links! I always look forward to Brass Ring Daily.
Oh I didn't even know this existed and I was doing it! Today by 2:30 pm (because I have plans to leave the office then) I will finish my review of my LinkedIn profile draft that I paid a writer to help me develop more than THREE MONTHS AGO! I started reviewing last night in a burst of energy, and now I must finish! Thanks Kara for the prompt! xoxo Meg
