“You may have something that other people want, but that doesn't mean you have to want it forever.”

Thank you for always being so open and honest and turning your own vulnerabilities into lessons for us all. When you nibble, at least you know it’s something that’s not for your taste buds anymore.

Love you moltissimo

I find it helps to remember: anything worth doing is worth doing badly. Succeeding in the wrong thing is not success.

In 2023, I stopped nibbling and started taking big chomps to build the body of work I want to create. I decided to invest in myself and my work, so I'm working on a master's in English, I'm publishing my translation of a memoir as a series (it's a long memoir!), and I'm taking on fewer freelance projects where I create a body of work for some other faceless entity. It feels very scary and also very right, and my hope for everyone who reads BRD (or writes it!) is that you get to have at least a little glimpse of this chomping effect in 2024. It's pretty amazing.

Loved this. 2023 definitely included some nibbling for me. Still trying to decide what the next color will be, but I'm ready for it! Thanks, as always, for your wisdom. x

From my end it looks like you've been chomping away! But all those nibbles certainly add up...can't wait to watch 2024 unfold for you, my brave friend.

Your message has me all teary-eyed. I love your encouragement to notice those what "sends up a flare in my brain! A ping in my heart! A sizzle on the stove!" Those ARE the cues of excitement, possibilities. I love those types of cues. Often we don't stop long enough to recognize them. But when we're able to and align those with action, magic happens.

And perhaps the tears came because you're not only infusing us with a dose of hope, belief, and optimism, but also reminding us to stop "nibbling around the edges" of our dreams. I can't think of a better way than to embrace this New Year.

YOU have been a great gift this past year-getting to know you, receiving your inspirational and authentic messages, and feeling the energy you bring to this life.

Happy dreaming, noticing, and embracing those big dreams!

The phrase "artistic unfinished business" gives me chills. I'm cheering for you and your real work, Kara, now and in 2024 and beyond.

It makes me feel that way, too! But makes me motivated too, in that counterintuitive way. Cheering *you* and your work on. Big bites and big swings in 2024.

Thanks, Kara. I’ve thought a lot about this phrase over the past week or so. It does indeed motivate me to focus on my “real work.” Happy New Year!
