Oh, hi friends!
Last week, I asked you what is something you’re grateful you finally decided to do this year.
Here are more of your inspiring, energizing, major-decision answers, which feel, to me, like the perfect way to start the month:
In 2024, Brass Ring Daily readers are grateful they finally decided to…
Quit my job, move to Barcelona, and try writing.
Put an end to a beautiful relationship that was wearing me out.
Not work hard, but work smarter and focus on what I care about versus what makes money.
Get pregnant with our second child! While this is partly a “decision,” it’s also very much a process that isn’t totally in my control. I’m grateful for God, my body, my partner, and all the medical and family support that helped make this possible!
Accept what was given to me instead of asking for it.
Make a serious dent in running the Abbott Marathons (I ran three in 2024!).
Commit, and write, CalmGut.Substack.com, a mostly monthly blog. Allow myself to skip August and December. Learn to focus on client stories, not "nutrition" jargon.
Start REALLY listening to my body, which has been trying to tell me for years to embrace rest.
Make the move to Sicily! It's easy to get caught up in having everything done and making it perfect, but there's something to be said for just doing it and then figuring out the details after. (This doesn't include anything illegal, but there's always an excuse to wait if you allow it.)
Advocate for myself and what I wanted during a big transition at work (and ask for help and support from my network in navigating the change).
Leave an abusive "situationship," follow my intuition about the new wonderful person I met afterwards, acknowledge that my freelancing wasn't paying as much as 10 years ago and finding a part-time job at a store that I really enjoy, proposing projects to new clients—and having them accepted.
Remember more often to slip into choosing joy, especially when some random tiny frustration grabs a megaphone to run the show!
Leave a stressful job and work (again) for myself. I am reclaiming my independence and joy.
You can read more big decisions from readers at Part One. I love them all so much.
This week I'm in rehearsals for my new musical, Marathon (more about that in last week’s newsletter!). Yayyyy!
I'd like to be fully present this week so I’ll be taking a little newsletter pause until Monday.
But will have a lot to share with you soon…
Hope you are rested, relaxed, and ready for the week ahead.
Cheering you on so much, as always.
I forgot to reply earlier so here is my gratitude - I finally confronted my weird relationship with food and started eating smaller portions and counting calories. I am down more than 40 pounds in six months without severely restricting myself! (My wife, who started before me, has lost 35 or so - she's an inspiration).
Good luck, Kara, with your musical.
