Oh, hi friends!
We get to do this.
It’s something I’m guilty of forgetting.
When it gets hard, when you’re playing criticism on a loop, when it’s raining and you have “run three miles” on your calendar, when the words aren’t coming, when a coworker makes a flip comment…
When the commute is heinous, when there’s maybe 14 minutes of quiet in your day, when you feel like you’re not good enough and aren’t sure how to improve, when the idea is foggy…

Still, always, there it is.
I get to do this.
I get to do this.
I get to do this.
It’s kind of ridiculous, isn’t it? It’s also kind of beautiful.
The sentiment is there on the best days, too. Of course, the flavor is something like:
Wow, I get to do this!!!
But it’s good to remember during the lulls or the sticky moments.
You might want more. (You probably do.)
You might want it to be easier. (You probably do.)
But another version of yourself would be amazed at what you get to do today.

You might as well give it all you’ve got.
That perspective shift of "get to do" vs. "have to do" found me a while back. It's a game-changer. And rereading it with your unique take reminded me how powerful a statement that is. "Get to" is infused with gratitude, hope, possibility, and agency. It shifts my internal ramblings to a positive forward focus.
Thank you for holding this up today. And now, I get to sip my morning coffee and prepare for an upcoming interview.
It wouldn't hurt if you resent this to me a dozen times! :D Appreciate your work, Kara!!
