Oh, hi friends!
It's Monday and so I'm here for you with some Monday thoughts. I was going to write about hope, then I was going to write about this troubling narrative I'm seeing of "well it's the middle of February of course you've abandoned all your New Year's resolutions ahahah," then I was going to tell you about a book I'm rereading which is hitting differently the second time around (this Murakami) and then I was going to write about a few big failures and what I learned from them, and then I was unsurprisingly going to share the latest news about Flaco (he's learned to hunt for himself!) and then I stopped myself to ask: Is any of that useful?
And my answer is…you never know until you reach the end.
You are probably overthinking whatever you're trying to create right now, too. Another round of feedback, another rabbit hole of research, "this week's busy, let's try week after next" or "they probably won't remember me" or "who am I to do this?"
So I guess, despite intention, I'm coming full circle and I will write to you about hope. About being hopeful.
Because I hope you don't wait to do the things you are meant to do.
I hope you give yourself the same support you give other people.
I hope you have reminders of how expansive and extraordinary your life already is.
I hope you know that anything is possible.
Have courage. There is time.
Start small. But start.
“It’s so easy to feel, like, invisible and small in a life today, and it’s so important to remind people that they already have a whole world of sensation and joy inside them that they just have to access by allowing reality to be what it is.”
A very nice interview with Heather Havrilesky.
Remake, Actually
Living, the new Bill Nighy movie, is very good! Here’s the description: "Living is the story of an ordinary man, reduced by years of oppressive office routine to a shadow existence, who at the eleventh hour makes a supreme effort to turn his dull life into something wonderful.” I’m going to write a little jingle that goes “It’s cat, cat, catnip for Kaaaaraaaa!”
I certainly did! I was considering starting a Bookstagram account, and I started taking those "small steps" to make it happen! Thanks, Kara. Always looking forward to your newsletters.
perfect!
