Oh, hi friends!
How will your trust your gut today?
Try.
“You can be cautious or you can be creative, but you can't be a cautious creative.”
— George Lois
I was so sorry to see that George Lois died this week. He was one of the original “ad men” (who actually hated Mad Men) and was responsible for creating the iconic “I Want My MTV” campaign, VH1, and all those ‘60s Esquire covers everyone still tries to top.
Many moons ago, I had a long conversation with him for Newsweek and have always remembered what he said about being a cautious creative. And also that good advertising, real advertising, should always “knock you on your ass.” Same goes for all good art, I suppose.
Thank you for the damn good advice, George.
Do It Today…Thanksgiving Edition!
While we’re all reflecting on the people and things and moments we’re grateful for this year, I want to do something a little different.
I really want to hear about a DECISION you’re grateful for this year. Something you chose to do (or stop doing).
Did you get bangs for the first time?
Take your first guitar lesson?
Send the scary email?
Stand up for yourself?
Drop it in this Google Form (or hit reply to this newsletter)! I'll include your response in tomorrow's newsletter. I’d love to be inspired by you.
I’m grateful I finally decided to sign up for a writing group. While their comments are often tough to hear, I can feel myself becoming a better writer. Thanks Kara.
