Oh, hi friends!
Here is a box.
Inside are the mindless and relatively easy tasks in a day.
Your emails, errands, clear-cut assignments, checking-ins and updates.
Straight lines and self-explanatory.
Here is a bag.
Sorry, actually, a lot of bags.
Inside are your many projects, life changes, and everything in progress.
Your flickers, drafts, half-created posts, dreams.
Jumbled and hard to define! Maybe garbage? Maybe not.
Box.
Bags.
It's so much more tempting to see what's inside the box. To take simple actions.
It's harder to choose the bags. To sift through your options.
But you always know what you're getting with the box.
And after you empty it today — once you knock off that to-do list and return that phone call and organize that messy corner of your apartment — it’s going to refill tomorrow.
Now what if I told you that inside one of those overflowing project bags was…this?
Or maybe a winning lottery ticket?
Or a precious family memento?
Maybe the search would be more fun.
Or urgent.
Maybe you’d be more tempted to do the hard thing instead.
And I guess that’s what we have to believe every day.
That if you keep trying, returning, and digging through those messy and disorganized works-in-progress, you might discover something beautiful or valuable or rare.
I think you will.
The challenging choice always beats the predictable one.
Thank you for speaking loudly so the people in the back ( me ) could hear you. I am now going to start that project I have been thinking about for far too long. And maybe the other one too.
