What do people want to hear on a Monday?
I kept turning over this question and couldn’t hit on a phrase or takeaway or theme for today’s newsletter.
But I think I was asking the wrong question.
It doesn’t work if you try to anticipate what someone wants.
You have to make something true and honest. You have to stand by your words. You have to invent. You might have to guess.
Agitate, anticipate…how often does that work?
Create, originate.
Do not worry about what’s been done before.
Do something new.
That is the spirit of a Monday.
I always appreciate Tim Urban’s direct perspective!
What can you do for 10 minutes today that you’ve rarely done before?
Flaco’s Big Adventure
You might have heard about Flaco, the Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped from the Central Park Zoo after his enclosure was vandalized. After a toodle down Fifth Avenue, he’s now hanging out in Central Park proper, fending off curious red-tailed hawks and surveying his surroundings.
Colin and I went to see him on Saturday (five degrees-feels-like-zero wasn’t going to stop us). While it was cute at first, it’s now worrisome that he’s on his own since he’s never learned to hunt for prey. I hope his adventure ends happily and swiftly. (I’m already writing the children’s book version.)
