Oh, hi friends!
I don't think I'd be very good at that.
Ever had this thought?
I don't think I'd be very good at…
Teaching, kayaking, watercolors, running long distances, striking up conversations with strangers, coaching, writing fiction, throwing clay, playing the piano, pitching myself in any capacity whatsoever, embarking on flights over eight hours, organizing my files, fixing the squeak, cleaning the grout, golf, running the business side of my business, hosting a podcast, running for office, taking care of non-succulent plants, and so on.
There are huge categories of activities and tasks that might not interest us. File those under Not For Me. That's not what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about things we talk ourselves out of even attempting.
We say, I don't think I'd be very good — and don't bother finding out.
But why must we be very good? Or even good?
If you want to try something, there are always three options:
Research how
Ask for help
Practice one time
I can name about 16 things I've talked myself out of attempting in case I wasn't excellent on the first try.
What a shame!
What stories have you been telling yourself about where you're from, what you do, and where you're going?
What story can you rewrite today?
