Oh, hi friends!
Frustrating but true:
It takes almost as much energy to not do something as it takes to do something.
The procrastination, evasions, diversions, run-arounds…
My brain can hang on to these for weeks. Months!
And you know the old example.
You put off making the appointment / dialing the number / hitting reply / opening the draft…
Until one day you don’t put it off anymore.
And the first step takes five minutes.
Five minutes after five months!
So I guess if we’re conserving our energy for the things that matter…I guess we should just do the something…
How does that feel?
Kara! We writers are Professional Procrastinators, PhD earned. Many years in list making, I've finally framed my system.
One page, two columns.
Left Column: "Big Deals," many steps toward goal.
Right Column: "Little Deals," Appts., Tasks, Errands
Goal: Divide each listing into several steps.
Stratch off ANY step I have accomplised today so I can feel some movement forward.
Worst is if nothing has been scratched off for an entire day!
Sad, because I don´t know how I can get out of this cicle.
