Can we try a group experiment today?
Over the course of this random Thursday, when you feel yourself sitting back, being passive, not speaking your mind, or burrowing away for any reason, try this instead:
Just say one quick thing.
That's it. You don't have to commit to squashing your passivity. Or change your personality. You can, for today, just say one quick thing.
Maybe it'll happen in a Zoom. Maybe it'll be about sticking to a new boundary. Maybe it'll be about money or a creative quibble or a new project itch you want to scratch.
Whatever it is, don't overthink, over-analyze or debate.
Get to it.
Get it out of your brain.
Just say one quick thing.
Let's see what happens.
This is incredibly timely, Kara.
There are times I hold back for a variety of reasons. But there have been several instances lately where I chose to say "that one quick thing." I was encouraged to speak up because my head, heart, and gut were nudging me.
And here's the interesting part. I said "the thing" without thinking there would be an outcome. But in all instances, something affirming and transformational happened.
The lesson? Listen to the cues. Don't hold back.

I think I've mentioned that I usually get to your newsletters one or two days behind. So, as I was reading this newsletter I was also thinking, one quick thing? What would I even say? I didn’t have a moment to be passive yesterday. Yesterday was stressful and beyond (well, almost beyond) my endurance level. But then it hit me. I did “just say one quick thing.” I sent my daughter a gif, said I missed her, and I’ve been thinking about her every day for the last 3 months. I didn’t expect a response, but I got one. She’s doing better. She’s starting a new job next month. She needs more time to heal herself. One quick thing for the win! Happy Friday, Kara.
