Oh, hi friends!
For my new podcast, I’ve asked a few people what their ideal creative day looks like.
The answers are beautiful. They sound so energizing and balanced, productive and smooth.
Everyone admits these days are rare.
Because your WiFi might stutter, there will be some childcare drama, three hours might disappear in the middle of the afternoon, gone to who-knows-where.
But even when circumstances are less than ideal, you somehow manage. You do it anyway.
And those, actually, are the days you’ll remember.
“Your great work is on the other side of your early work. The only way to be exceptional later on is to have the courage to be ‘just okay’ right now. This is how it is for everyone.”
A useful message from James Clear’s newsletter.
I’m reading his book Atomic Habits this week. After subscribing to his newsletter and hearing about the book…for years…I finally thought, Hey, maybe I should crack open this thing that’s sold five million (!) copies instead of pretending I’ve already read it?! (Do you ever do that?) It’s a very educational practice!
Saving Birds and Going Viral
So my sweet Colin rescued a bird last week. He does this a lot; he volunteers at the Wild Bird Fund, a wildlife rehabilitation center in Manhattan that cares for injured animals. (If you ever find a sick bird or squirrel on the city streets, you can bring them in to WBF!)
He saw a pigeon with a bad head injury outside the 125th Street subway stop, went to a stationery store and grabbed a bag, then gently picked up the pigeon, placed it in the bag, and hopped in an Uber to take it to the Wild Bird Fund.
Sooo, apparently, picking up a pigeon in the middle of New York looks a little funny…
Because a stranger caught this on camera, and now this TikTok has been viewed 2.8 million (!!!) times. Over 320,000 people gave it a little heart. People think he’s John Green, or that something nefarious might be going on (the audio is hilarious).

But no, he’s just a nice guy doing a nice deed—I think his newfound ‘fame’ might be the funniest and most perfect thing in the world.
Sometimes, people actually are watching.
