Oh, hi friends!
I have a reading problem.
There are at least 13 books I'd like to read, urgently, on my bookshelves.
There are dozens of books on my "to read" shelf on Goodreads.
There are a handful of holds on my library apps, and books that I've started and lost steam on recently.
Yet what am I reading?
Nothing, really.
Why does this happen?
Why do we defer the things we want to do in favor of things that take 1/16th less effort?
Because they're easy. Because they're there. Because we don't want to waste time flipping pages of a book that doesn't light us up, so we default to the dimness of what we already know. Because we think there's always more time. Later. Tomorrow.
It's not about books.
It's about spending your time in a way that feels intentional to you, on something that is hard and meaningful. To you.
I want to read better books.
I want to make better art.
Maybe it starts by setting aside what's easy — just once — and instead choosing something else. Choosing the adventure.
Not later, not tomorrow. But now.
