Oh, hi friends!
So much of writing — or making anything — is about the groove.
Finding the groove, staying in the groove, dropping out of the groove, and rediscovering the groove.
But the groove isn’t always about being “productive” or “producing.”
The groove isn’t always flow state or frictionless creating.
The groove, to me, is when you’re consistently inside the world of your project.
It’s when you feel encouraged, rather than adversarial.
The groove might look like opening the doc or scribbling on a Post-It.
The groove could be printing an excerpt in the afternoon, or reading a comp title with a critical eye.
The groove is anything that lightly touches your ultimate goal.
So you don’t have to write 1,000 words today. You don’t have to finish.
Maybe you can start by rereading a paragraph and remembering you care.
“Maybe you can start by rereading a paragraph and remembering you care.” Love (and needed) this! Thank you!
Kara, This is like being in the zone.
