Oh, hi friends!
Oh my gosh it’s September and I am FEELING THE FRESH MONTH ENERGY. My friend Marialena texted me “Happy September!!” this morning and you know what? Yes!
There's movement, there’s relaxing. There’s new jobs, new houses, old priorities, resurfaced opportunities. People to connect with, people to hug, people to celebrate. There are fresh notebooks and tiny almost-drafts. There’s meal prepping and reunion cocktails. There’s the sun at 7pm and also pumpkin-flavored foods if that’s important to you. There are last barbecues and first days of school. There are new skills to learn and old books to shelve away. There’s organizing your life and letting life fly.
I’m pretty excited about it?
We’ve got a lot to do today, this week, this month, and we get to choose.
“There’s still a little left in me,” she said on the court when it was done. “I love a challenge, I love rising to the challenge.”
Wow. Serena, Serena, Serena. Never count her out.

YAY SEPTEMBER! I'm nervous about the semester because I'm trying to teach my creative nonfiction students how to land on that fine line between pushing themselves toward writing about hard things while simultaneously taking care of themselves and their mental health. I suppose that's just the challenge of making art, though, right?
