Oh, hi friends!
Today is Thursday, which means tomorrow is Friday, which means I’ll start my day with a run and simultaneous phone call with my friend Aransas Savas.
Before the pandemic, Aransas and I would run together on Fridays in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Since it was the end of the week, we’d chat about what happened — highs, lows, work quandaries, project stickiness.
But we always talked with intention. Somehow we just figured stuff out (definitely helps that Aransas is an incredible wellbeing and leadership coach!!).
We’d end each run with miles behind us and a plan for the next week (or even next hour).
During the pandemic, I moved out of Brooklyn, but Aransas had a thought: Why don’t we continue these chats over the phone?
So that’s what we do every Friday. Talk through and run on.
(Just curious: Do you have a similar check-in habit with a friend?)
Today we’re releasing a podcast episode together where we talk through our favorite routine, how to close open loops and set deep work blocks, move our way through exercises in Do It (or Don’t), and much more.
You can listen to this special episode on Do It Today (Apple Podcasts and Spotify), or on the award-winning The Uplifters podcast, where Aransas interviews interesting and inspiring women and shares their mindset techniques to help you live your biggest life. (Highly recommend following The Uplifters on Substack for new episodes and wisdom.)
The conversation was so fun and energizing — but then, conversations with Aransas always are!
Listening to this again also reminded me of something else.
If you surround yourself with people who lift you up, there’s no limit to how high you’ll go.
