Oh, hi friends!*
Scrolling through some old newsletter notes, I found this one from my friend Susan:
Keep the number one goal:
Progress, not perfection.
And I thought, well, that’s exactly what I need to hear right now.
Sitting on those podcast episodes but afraid to pick a launch date.
Wondering if you’re ever going to write a decent song again.
Wanting to crack back open an old idea but worried it’s gonna be garbage.
How about you?
Where are you waiting?
What are you trying to tweak into oblivion?
What is already ready?
(You are.)
Progress, not perfection.
On not getting flustered by the little things:
"I like to watch the Tour de France but never keep up. Last night I was watching stage 12 or 13 and there were a couple comments from racers and announcers (aka former racers) about how they respond to something going wrong — they just solve the problem and move on. Getting upset in any way takes energy and during a three-week race like TdF the most precious resource they have is energy.
Things happen — tires go flat, you miss the break, the water bottle gets dropped, someone does something you don’t like — and you can waste energy getting upset or you can do what you need to do and have the energy to make it to Paris.
I’m going to finally listen to what the world is telling me and save that energy. Maybe I’ll even use it to go to Paris!"
Love this story from newsletter reader Tina J.!
When something goes wrong, where are you going to save energy today?
And where do you want to use it?
