Oh, hi friends!
I was thinking about how I structure these newsletters.
There’s usually a question or observation.
You and I think about it together.
And then we’re on our way.
What happens if I interrupt the pattern?
Say, if I chose to write a 3,000 word essay. Or publish once a quarter. Or banish all animal photos.
Would that be bad? Good?
Or simply…different?
This came up in a different way a few weeks ago, when I started to run in the afternoon or evening instead of the morning. My days felt different.
Bad? Good? Different.
A new lens.
We use patterns because they help us structure our worlds.
But patterns shouldn’t be prisons.
And you should feel free to interrupt your patterns at any point, whether you’re making something, revising, debating, attending or deciding.
What if you did something radical, just this once?
Love this concept! I get so thrown for a loop when I disrupt a pattern. But you're right: "patterns shouldn’t be prisons!"
