Oh, hi friends!
Genius and Fraud.
These are the two identities lurking around when we’re working on a project.
I think this is a good thing.
You come up with some brilliant bit of connective tissue — a scene transition, a perfect rhyme, a captivating cold email.
You’re a Genius. You are great.
Then there are moments of self-doubt — you’re scared to open the draft, or deep in a revision, or have been stagnant for months.
You’re a Fraud. You are done.
But, of course, you’re not.
Something happens. Something small but meaningful. You surprise yourself.
You circle back to Genius.
You keep making.
A bit later, one hitch — a stray comment, say, or a comparison rabbit hole — and you’re back to Fraud.
Back and forth.
The Fraud makes you question your work, but also makes you try harder.
The Genius craves excellence, but believes it’s within reach.
Genius and Fraud.
Back and forth. You need both, I think, to reach beyond where you’ve been.
To think bigger, get scared, and do it anyway, you must believe you are both Genius and Fraud — and everything in between.
You are infinite.
