Oh, hi friends!
New month, peak summer month, possibilities.
Also, recalibration time.
What happened?
And what’s next?
Last month, I held a terrace reading (a reading on our terrace!) for my TV pilot script, THE MUSE.
Yes, I wanted to hear the dialogue aloud, but equally appealing was gathering friends old and new and hearing about what they were doing, and then swimming in that collective joy and creative frisson over Trader Joe’s snacks and pizza.
It was wonderful.
Other things bubbled up in June, too. Books read, movies watched (highly recommend Sorry, Baby). The same and maybe different for you, I’m guessing?
We wade from day to day, bobbing about our often overwhelming surroundings, but hopefully, there exists a small moment — maybe this one, together — where we can ask a simple question: What good can I do today?
Grand, tiny, shimmering, solid, public, private. You get to choose.
Maybe that’s what summer can be. Asking, “What good can I do today?” and then being brave enough or myopic enough or dreamy enough to actually do that one good thing.
And then being happy, because you did the thing you said you’d do.
A summer wish, made simple.
See you tomorrow, friends old and new.
