Oh, hi friends!
Where do you find energy to do the things you want to do?
For me, energy comes from both stability and novelty.
Stability looks like repeatable habits and good communication (writing daily, checking in with collaborators).
Novelty looks like trying something new (launching a podcast, learning skills, reading outside my comfort zone).
Energy often gets zapped when habits are derailed. Or when you’re doing an activity you’ve outgrown or which no longer feels challenging.
So how’s your energy on this Monday?
Can you layer in some stability?
Do you need to find some novelty?
Because playing the same song over and over again isn’t the solution.
The energy you want is out there.
Press play on something new.
“It's really just about finding whatever's going to keep you on track, especially if you're someone who values being able to pivot based on what the day brings or even how you're feeling. It's really, really important to allow yourself the grace and the space to work in a way that actually maximizes who you are.”
I said today’s the day, so here’s my first interview for my new podcast Do It Today.
This was such a fun, uplifting conversation with Katie Horwitch, who’s in the thick of a major creative project and has brilliant advice on writing, organizing your week, overcoming analysis paralysis, and much more (all in 17 minutes!).
I was nervous to start something new, nervous to call up people I admire, nervous to wade into new software and skills, nervous to share the result with everyone…
But from the moment I talked with Katie I knew this podcast experiment is going to give me an incredible amount of energy.
Do It Today is meant to encourage you to do something today. That’s it. That’s the goal!
So I hope this chat might help—it certainly helped me—and I’d love to hear what you’re planning to do today, too.
Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, my website, or your favorite podcast platform.
And thank you for being here on this new adventure.
