Oh, hi friends!
My week always feels smoother when everything has a “container.”
Like, I know when I’m going to be writing—because there’s a little “writing container” appointment on my calendar.
I theoretically shouldn’t worry about writing all the time, because my writing container is coming up (or just happened).
Same goes with mundane tasks.
Instead of a daily running commentary: “I need to place a Target order/water or trash that sad dead plant/clean the windows/file that invoice,” I remember there are containers for these things: I like doing money stuff on Fridays, and house stuff on the weekends.
Containers are a shortcut to tell yourself: I don’t have to worry about that right now.
What a gift!
Do you have anything you’d like to chuck into a container today?
Molly the Maid and her gran, in the book series by Nita Prose:
“Monday, floors and chores.
Tuesday, deep cleaning to give meaning.
Wednesday, bath and kitchen.
Thursday, dust we must.
Friday, wash-and-dry day. Saturday, wild card.
Sunday, shop and chop.”
I have definitely borrowed their system of containment! 🥰
Funny—all I can think of is, yes, I do have a lot of stuff to ‘chuck into a container’ but it’s the picking it up and looking at it like Marie Kondo and deciding which container it should go in. This could take all day! Ha!
