Oh, hi friends!
We’re at the Grammy Awards. Hundreds of nominees. Big glitzy party. Red carpet. It’s exciting. We finally made it.
And a presenter walks onstage and announces the category — our category. We hear our name. Then five other names. And then the winner…
It’s not us.
And we think, Will it ever be my turn to go onstage?
And now we’re in the living room of a mid-career artist who’s watching the Grammy Awards play out on TV. All those nominees, all that recognition. Sitting in that audience one day. That’s the dream. But it feels so far away. Will we ever be noticed? Will we ever reach ‘the next level’?
And now in a different living room, in a different state, a young artist scrolls their phone, and sees a music video the mid-career artist has posted. The song is so clever, so full of heart. And the young artist thinks, Will I ever be brave enough to share my work? Will I ever be that good?
And now in another living room, a child places their hands on a keyboard. They play a few notes. They like the sound that bounces through the air. They don’t stop. They don’t ask questions.
All they do is play.
Okay, I needed that.
