Oh, hi friends!
Here we are.
It's funny, I keep trying to think of new ways to have a gentle close to the week.
Some weeks require an extra dose of get-it-done energy.
And others?
Other weeks ask that you forgive yourself.
Maybe your forgiveness is for a lack of movement. Maybe you were snappy with someone. Maybe you accidentally read a negative Goodreads review that made you sad for a few hours. Maybe you compared yourself — or your project-in-progress — to this announcement or that award.
Maybe you procrastinated a little bit or redownloaded the app that consumes your life or felt yourself compromising after promising yourself that this time, this week, you wouldn't. Maybe you skipped that class, nudged that deadline, or weren't able to fully express the brilliant and put-together person you think you need to be every single week.
Lots of maybes.
Lots of possibilities.
Lots of chances to forgive yourself.
If you told me about all your maybes from up above, I'd forgive you.
I’d say, That’s not so bad. And, You’re being tough on yourself. And, It’s OK.
Why do we treat other people with so much more kindness than we treat ourselves?
Forgive yourself.
Gently close the week.
And fly into the weekend.
I Owe (Owl?) You an Update
In case you haven't heard, beautiful Flaco, the Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped from the Central Park Zoo, taught himself how to hunt and is currently living in the North Woods of Central Park. There are no plans to recapture him. After 12 years in captivity, he's navigating from tree to tree, with 843 acres as his playground. Fly, Flaco, fly!
