This week, what if we made a pact…

What if we made a pact to seek out the easy answers?

I was overcomplicating something recently, asking:

Well, what if I reached out to this person and that stranger and 16 other people?

Entirely by accident, I was taking the most challenging route, full of rabbit holes and delays.

Instead the easy answer was:

Go to the one person I know who has done this before.

And guess what? An easy, trusted, simple answer appeared.

The easy answer is often someone already in your orbit.

Then yesterday, I was approached with a time-sensitive opportunity. I didn’t have the space to figure out if I could do it, but didn’t want to rush my response either. So I asked myself, What is the easy answer here?

The easy answer was to respond quickly and with gratitude, saying I’d get back to them tomorrow at noon, once I could make sure I had the time to take on the project and do my best work on it.

The easy answer is often the truth.

Life is complicated enough already. Why make it harder?
