Let’s take a quick second

Oh, hi friends!
Guess what? It’s Monday and you are so ready. You’ve already left behind last week.
Take my long list of to-dos I shared on Friday (so many nice notes from people wishing me well — thank you!).
A few days later and…
The cold has crept out of my body.
I finished the editing project.
I skipped the 5K (a lil' fever tipped me over the edge).
We finalized and presented our song in the lyrics masterclass — and it went very well!
Those deadlines I missed? Turns out they were actually for THIS week; I purposely wrote them on my calendar a week in advance to trick myself into finishing them earlier. That trick worked, um, a little too well. So I’ll hit them this week!
Yesterday I shrunk my inbox from 180+ emails down to 32.
Vacation is ready to go.
So...it all happened. Because it always does.
When you’re not feeling 100%, you move a little slower, yet more efficiently — no energy to waste on silly stuff. Moving at an even keel still gets you to the end.
So if you’re already feeling overwhelmed by your week, pare it down. What actually matters? Figure that out and you’ll get it done.
Because it’s Monday — and you are ready to go.

“If your problem is a lack of ideas, look at the people and objects around you. Try drawing or writing about them and don’t worry about whether this is what you envision as your big creative project.
‘I am fascinated by the cultural norms of a place and the little things that make that place unique. So I draw to remember,’ Gharib said.
I loved this piece on how to draw yourself out of a creative funk, seen through the eyes of Malaka Gharib, an editor at NPR who published the graphic memoir I Was Their American Dream.
Another one of her tips is to set an extremely tight deadline in the form of a time limit of a word count. And she means extremely tight. She often creates ‘zines’ in five minutes or less…! (h/t Aunt Gina Cutruzzula)
Attention, Theater Makers!

Maybe it's just me or maybe it’s that back-to-school feeling in the air but aren’t you feeling inspired to start plotting big fall plans? Go go go!
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
