On staying still

Oh, hi friends!
What is the value of stillness?
What do you get in that space that you don’t get when you’re moving, dodging, flying, striving through the day?
Do you know?
When’s the last time you were? Still, that is.
Could you be today?

A Flock of Umbrellas
You can’t carry them all at once,
A drop sneaks through the cracks.
There ain’t nothin’ else you can do,
But close your eyes...relax.
“The goal is being patient with it all. I just believe and trust that things are good. The sun coming up and the sun going down, and nature, the whole thing, take the changes as they come. People can get so fussed about something like the weather, but there’s no point, it is what it is, and I love the idea that you make popsicles in humid weather and meringues in dry weather and fly kites in windy weather and go kayaking when it’s calm. You work with whatever is out there and try to enjoy it.”
When I need a nice way to calm my brain (while still on the Internet), I always pop over to the site A Cup of Jo, and inevitably there’s an article or photo series that exists to delight the brain. This “beauty uniform” routine of Joanna’s aunt Lulu living in Cornwall, England, did just the trick!

Sweet interview between a young(er) Lin-Manuel Miranda and Joseph Stein, the playwright who wrote the books for the musicals Zorba, Fiddler on the Roof, and Enter Laughing.
Stein points to posters on his wall and says, “These are the shows I’ve done.” Then he points to the pile of scripts on the desk and says, “These are the scripts I’m working on right now.” Stein was 97 at the time.
