So, what’s the downside?

Oh, hi friends!
Stating what you want helps you get a little bit closer.
Maybe the step closer comes in your own mind, in the form of believing it’s even possible to get there.
Or maybe the step closer comes from an outside source, who hears you and helps you along.
So what’s the downside in making a statement?
Go on!

Hello, New York,
How’s that for scale?
“Your happiness level actually depends on how often you experience positive events, rather than how magically intense each event actually is.”
I learned a lot writing this story for Shine about how your happiness depends on the frequency and not the intensity of positive events in your life.
Because while we might not be able to go on vacation every month, or finish an incredible piece of artwork every day, we can enjoy our little wins.
This reminds me of a friend who’s working on a book proposal right now. I’m sure she dreams of the day she’ll be able to walk into the Strand and pick up her book. But when we get on the phone to catch up, she doesn’t talk about that. At all. She talks about how happy she is every day to be researching and writing about a subject she's passionate about. She gets to live in that space as much as she wants — and that makes her happy.

Thanks to Jenn Haltman for bringing this hypnotic video — “Ingenue” by Atoms for Peace — into my life.
