What are you ignoring?

Oh, hi friends!
I talk a lot about email and reading email and managing email and email processes. (Hi, you’re reading an email right now!)
But now I’m thinking about the emails you ignore, or you sit and wait on.
I’m thinking in particular about the one that sat in my inbox for a month from a brilliant friend, who gave me notes on my play “Old Hollywood” after my public reading.
I told myself it was important, and contained details I needed to think about, so I had to find that extra time to address them.
And that’s true!
But actually, I knew it would make me want to do more work on it. Nothing’s ever done, I thought.
Well, I finally read and responded to the (smart and incisive) notes…and now I do want to do more work on it.
Because the things you’re ignoring or sitting or waiting on are probably exactly the things you need to be doing after all.

You’re as cool as a cucumber, my friend.

"My strategy for Leadville was simple, if unconventional: Everything counted. Walking with my daughters, Pippa and Maisy, to school, riding my bike to the grocery store, taking the dog out after dinner. Afternoons spent on the lacrosse field, coaching the girls’ team in our Santa Fe community league? Yup, training.
My secret to endurance was no secret at all, but a basic, if underrated, human impulse: staying in motion."
So THAT's how you train for an ultramarathon! I enjoyed hearing about this approach from last year's surprise winner of the tough Leadville 100-mile race, who credits being a parent with helping her performance.
Remember that today: Every five minutes you can spare for your project, every extra block you can walk, or every couplet you can scrawl down...it all counts.

Do you want people to consume what you make? Of course you do! But instead of thinking about something hitting big — going viral — there’s another way, as Gary Vaynerchuk explains in this two-minute video. “Everybody wants viral, but what actually works is consistent content.”
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
