I did not watch that show and probably never will: A memoir

Oh, hi friends!
I’m just going to leave this here in case someone else needs it…
You don’t actually have to watch that show.
Or listen to that podcast.
Or read that article.
Sure, they’re probably all great! And sure, you might feel left out of the ~cultural conversation~ for a little bit, but there will soon be another show/podcast/article to consume.
When so many things demand your attention, it’s good to remember that you don’t actually have to do anything. You get to decide where to put your eyeballs. (And if you, like me, always hear yourself say ‘I need more time,’ tapping out of this race might be a good place to start.)

Don’t be a square. (Be a weird yellow rectangle?)

“Mama, why do they make you work so much?”
I paused before answering, because in that innocent question was the shameful answer.
“They? There is no ‘they,’” I told him, instantly aware of my dysfunctional time management skills.
“Then why do you work so much and then complain about it?”
Ahhhahaha. Omg, this piece (and the sick burn from the writer’s kid) slayed me. And this quote, too: “Work, like the water I spend so much of my time in (or wishing I were in), quickly spreads and flows to fill spaces.” STOP THE FLOW.

OK, OK, OK, did I write this horoscope? But really…did I?! I don’t normally seek them out, but The Cut's always seem to find me.
