Why we wait and wait

Oh, hi friends!
Why do we wait to do things that can get us closer to our goals?
Like when someone offers help — an introduction, or advice, or an olive branch of collaboration.
Sounds great, we think. But maybe later…when the timing’s right.
When I’m ready.
When I’m worthy.
When I get my ducks in a row.
Why do we wait?
It’s simple: We’re scared.
We’re more scared of trying and discovering that path might go nowhere, than sitting right where we are now, dreaming of a maybe. Of a one-day-with-my-ducks-in-a-row. Of a when-I’m-ready.
But put like that, doesn’t waiting forever actually sound scarier than trying?
How can you stop waiting...today?

Remembering this as I was visited by the envy monster a little bit lately. (Doesn't he always seem to come around when you are in a period of not creating something yourself??)

One of the best parts of the Tony Awards wasn’t televised — Billy Porter singing “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” from Gypsy during the commercial break.
