It’s like...eating a cheeseburger?

Oh, hi friends!
If you eat a cheeseburger and fries at 11pm, it’s going to take your stomach a second to absorb the shock of what happened. What’s going on? How do you feel? Where do you go from here?
If you arrive at a milestone of a big project — or finish it altogether — it’s going to take your brain a second to absorb the shock of what happened. Where are you? What’s the new reality? Where do you go from here?
Waiting is good. Digesting is good. Napping is good. (Is this metaphor weird?)
Planning your next meal is also a possibility. But first you might need to step back for a second.
Either way, there are no wrong answers.

This weekend we took the A train all the way down to the Rockaways, not to go to the beach (though we did go to the beach) but to visit the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and see some birds and hike around a looped path and feel like the city was very far away. (Can you see the skyline in the middle of my crooked picture?)
Is there somewhere you’ve always wanted to explore near your city or town? Can you make a plan to go?
“In Hollywood, too many writers spend preposterous hours in the writers' room, searching internally for inspiration, when creativity is found in the world around them. Their approach is hard-wired for sameness.”
Borrowed this nugget from this story about how Steve Jobs convinced Tim Cook to work for him at Apple.
Where do you look for original ideas? On the internet, or Twitter, in stories and nuggets already written by other people? (I have fallen into this loop so many times.)
Original ideas can often be found: Outside in the world, through strangers or acquaintances, by asking the question “why”, hidden in the fine print of books or stories about tangentially related topics

Went to a screening last night of this documentary Far From the Tree (based on Andrew Solomon’s book of the same name) about families who are on a journey to accept their unique children. I was moved — you might be, too? Here’s the trailer. It’s available for rent on Amazon Prime and streaming for free on Hulu.
