Four goslings
Oh, hi friends!
Do you need to take another class?
Do you need a group workshop?
Do you need to consult a collaborator?
Do you need to talk to a champion?
Do you need an advocate?
Do you need a yes?
Do you need more info?
Do you need to ignore?
Do you need to revise?
Do you need to rest?
Do you need a no?
Do you need to start over?
Do you need space?
Do you need a pivot?
Do you need to reconnect?
Do you need time?
Do you need to dive in?
You might have one answer.
You might have many.
What do you need right now?
Find it.
Do it.
I believe in you.
Novelist Doris Lessing on the various ways to succeed:
“We all of us have limited amounts of energy, and I am sure the people who are successful have learned, either by instinct or consciously, to use their energies well instead of spilling them about. And this has to be different for every person, writers or otherwise. I know writers who go to parties every night and then, recharged instead of depleted, happily write all day. But if I stay up half the night talking, I don’t do so well the next day. Some writers like to start work as soon as they can in the morning, while others like the night or—for me almost impossible—the afternoons. Trial and error, and then when you’ve found your needs, what feeds you, what is your instinctive rhythm and routine, then cherish it.”

Join Me on a Four-Day, Four-Gosling Streak?
Hi! My attention span is about four seconds long right now, so while I can’t commit to an ambitious summer-long streak or wide-ranging project, I am going to commit to…four whole days! That’s today through Friday. Seems doable?
For four days, I’m just going to…do the thing.
My thing is going to be write five pages a day. (Good, bad, doesn't matter!)
Yours might be doing your physical therapy, reading that book you were loving and forgot about, reaching out to one job prospect a day, doing 15 minutes of research for your project, posting about your upcoming gig on social media, anything at all. You probably already have something in mind.
Your choice, four days. That's only four goslings. Hit reply and tell me about it if that helps you lock it in. Cheering you on.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
You can also support my work by checking out my motivational journal, Do It For Yourself, designed to guide you through your creative and work projects, and my upcoming journal Do It Today, which encourages you to find time for the things that matter most to you.
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
