Tulips
Oh, hi friends!
Tulips have popped up in the tree beds lining my street.
They’re an explosion of color.
They only surfaced because patient, forward-thinking neighbors planted the bulbs last year, and the year before that, and the year before that one.
A good reminder if you’re waiting.
Your season is coming.
What’s something you know now about happiness that you didn’t know when you were 18 years old?
That no one knows what’s better for me than I do, and I need never subvert my instincts to what feels right for me.
To this end, I’ve learned to think very differently about the word “opportunity.” It’s used with an implicit understanding that it offers a chance at something great. That word is like the devil, sly. At this point in my career, in the name of doing what’s right for me, I’ve passed up “opportunities” that would make my parents faint.

From this very good (short) Gretchen Rubin interview with Matt Richtel, author of the new book Inspired: Understanding Creativity: A Journey Through Art, Science, and the Soul. This quote alone convinced me to buy the book!
Each of these rectangles represents 10 minutes of your day.
The green ones are the time that has already passed.
The blank ones are time you have left to go.
At first when I saw this site, with its constantly updating rectangles, I was freaked out? Now I’m into it. It makes me want to use my time wisely.
(From my friend Nicole Tabak’s A+ newsletter Social Media Detox, which always provides insightful links and brain igniters — is that a thing? it feels like a thing...).
