We have returned
Oh, hi friends!
Here’s one fun thing that happened this week: After two years and hundreds of hours of Zooms, my musical theater workshop came back…in person…in real life.
And it was shocking and wonderful, not only because the songs everyone presented were so good (and we got to experience them all together in real time) or because it was exciting to see my friends and meet people whose voices I recognized but had never met in person, or because we all gossiped about which shows we’ve seen and loved or didn’t love.
The best part was the ENERGY.
It was exciting and fresh and happy. My friend Matt texted me later, “It felt like actual life.” Not Zoom-square life. But actual life.
And if we’re trying to make theater that reflects actual life…isn’t that what we need?
So this week I got back a part of myself.
And it reminded me there are still many other experiences, places, and people slowly returning to our lives, too.
Be glad for it. I really am.
A reminder! (From my dinner!)
So many things are working for you that you don’t see!
Loved this little clip of “Outside Your Window” from a new Ahrens & Flaherty musical called Knoxville opening at Asolo Rep in Sarasota. Road trip?
