Unearthing your energy boosts

Oh, hi friends!
What gives you energy?
Is it spending time with old friends?
Doing something unusual or out of your comfort zone?
Lying like a soggy steamed vegetable on your couch for 48 hours?
Detoxing, deleting, unsubscribing, moving, shuffling, singing, dancing, dining?
You probably have answers! I do. So I’m taking two minutes to actually pick one—and do it.

Light it up.

“I believe that every artist is inherently an optimist, because you are making something the world is not asking you to make, with the belief that someone, somewhere will care about it."
Loved this story on how artists of all ages keep their creative spirit alive, from TIME’s recent Optimists issue, especially these quotes from multimedia visual artist Hank Willis Thomas:
“I think every obstacle we face really is an opportunity, and every challenge—whether painful or disorienting or humiliating—is a reminder that I am still alive,” says Thomas. “And if I am still alive, that means I still have work to do.”

"Running is such a slog" vs. “Yeah, you just pop out for a quick run.”
A thought-provoking two-minute video from one of my favorite thinkers, Derek Sivers.
A few key quotes…
We think of things we like as simple.
And things we don’t as complicated.
You can use this to deliberately simplify how you think of something you’re avoiding, making it more appealing.
What you have to do is notice in your mind when your complications are holding you back, and turn your dial back towards simplicity.
