Perfect moments to start, where are you?

Oh, hi friends!
Here’s a lesson from my own procrastination: I’m writing this at 12:32 a.m. Ideally, I like to write the Monday newsletter on Friday, when I’m already at a computer.
Less ideally, I’ll do it Saturday in between some eggs or a movie or other work or a matinee.
Even less ideally, I’ll write it Sunday afternoon. That’s really not great because by then it will have been weighing on my mind for 48 hours. It doesn’t feel like a huge burden, more like the specter of a to-do hanging over me.
Writing it at 12:32 a.m., technically Monday morning, is the not-at-all-ideal scenario. I’d rather be in bed.
But here’s the thing…
The moment that’s not-at-all ideal, the one that seems too late, or wasn’t planned well enough…that moment is still better than never.
So hi. Let’s lean in to the less-than-perfect, better-than-never moments, and begin.

Where are you looking?
From Leslye Headland’s Instagram. She’s the creator of the much-discussed new show Russian Doll—I’ve followed her playwriting career for years and took a class she taught at ESPA Primary Stages in 2015. It was called “Pitching and Outlining Your Screenplay.” I just reread my notes from class and my favorite one was “Write 4 hours a day, write until you make typos.”
This profile of her from The Ringer is worth reading, especially for these lines: “‘I am attempting world domination in all mediums,’ she quipped. It was funny in the classic Headland sense—because it was also true.”

YouTube put this new video from Sara Bareilles on my homepage. The song’s called “Armor.” YouTube is correct, I do like it!
Can You Help Out My Friend?
My friend Hannah Engelson is in pre-production on a short documentary and is looking for potential documentary subjects to speak with. Here’s a note from her below...do you know anyone? Please reach out if so!
I am looking for a family that spans three generations that lives together in one home, apartment, etc. in the New York metro area. At this point I’m hoping to just speak with as many families as possible in hopes of finding a good fit for an independent short documentary. People can reach out to me directly at h.engelson@gmail.com or 248-227-7214.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
