When getting the Pulitzer gets hard
Oh, hi friends!
Remember when I went on a rampage and decided to enter and win this year’s Pulitzer Prize for Drama?
That was a mere 13 days ago. That was a long 13 days ago.
Since then I’ve worked a lot, seen some shows, celebrated the holidays, and eaten three cheeseburgers. I made some progress on the play. And then things got in the way. (Like rhymes. Lots of rhymes going on.)
But that happens sometimes! You get that big burst of energy and then…logistics. Can I? How? When? Where?
That’s why reminders are good. Necessary. Write your goals on notecards. Tape them to your bathroom mirror. Tell people who will remind you about them during your 6 a.m. run. Make your goals your iPhone background.
And then get back on the horse.

There are a bit more than 13 million people, but you get the idea. This is easy to forget if you’re writing stories focused on one important character, or also if you’re just walking through the world busy and crazed and stressed and juggling 48 things in your head and 17 bags on your arm. Everyone else is juggling, too. Some comfort (and clarity) in that.

Where’s the Best Place to Live in Your State?
You’re curious, aren’t ya? We've launched a big package I edited at MONEY—the data geniuses over here crunched the numbers to find the best cities in each state, based on cost of living, diversity, crime rates, and a whole bunch of economic factors. Take a peek here. (Spoiler: New York City did *not* win. I’m OK with that!)
PS — Stephen Sondheim is doing a TimesTalk tonight, which I didn’t know about until it was SOLD OUT. *sobs uncontrollably* If anyone stumbles across extra tickets for sale, well, you know where to find me!!!
