35 birthday thoughts
Oh, hi friends!
Today is my birthday and I was going to write a little (or long) essay and then thought, Wow time is flying, get to the point!
So here are 35 short lessons and observations that I (in the words of Oprah) know to be true after 35 years.
I hope to keep learning and that a few might speak to where you are right now.
Thank you for being here with me!!

> No progress is too small.
> Wear sunscreen.
> Go to the dentist and doctor when you know you should.
> Call your mom. (And your dad, if he likes to talk on the phone.)
> Always take the meeting.
> Always take the stairs.
> Always ask for more money. (And remember to invest in your 401k.)
> When it’s good, let life be good.
> Envy is an arrow pointing you where you want to go.
> If you’re stuck, ask “What’s the most interesting choice?”
> Nobody is watching.
> You will regret the snark or unkind comment.
> Put away your phone while you work.
> Try to stop doing stuff that makes you miserable.
> Only make plans you don’t want to cancel.
> Money feels different depending on where it’s coming from.
> Generosity is exponential.
> Make a bet on yourself.
> Grief is worse than you think. Different, too. But you will make it through.
> Go for your moonshot.
> Unseen people are cheering you on.
> If something feels a little off, it is.
> Listen to people older than you. Watch people younger than you. They know things you do not.
> Reading a book is always a win.
> Seeing live theater is, too.
> You don’t want what other people want. (So it’s good they have it, and not you.)
> Take the next smallest step.
> Never write something in an email you wouldn’t want read by everyone you know.
> The mark of a champion is finishing what you started. (From Grandpa.)
> Don’t wait for a mentor.
> Don’t wait for permission.
> Don’t wait for tomorrow.
> Do it today.
Have a great weekend! Love, Lula
