Feels strange to ask this
Oh, hi friends!
What’s the one thing you could do that would help you…that you’re not already doing?
It feels strange to ask this question because everyone will have wildly different answers about their careers, projects, relationships.
The genesis for this came from me finally creating a profile on New Play Exchange and adding a few of my plays and musicals over the weekend. This might seem small (it took maybe two hours?) but involved me sifting through old drafts, confronting whether or not I hated them (lol), and, most significantly, declaring (internally, of course), “I’m doing this because I am a playwright and this is where I belong.”
There was no downside, yet I put it off for an entire year. This seemingly small act will only help nudge me, however imperfectly, down the right path. Or a new path.
Where are your own upsides?
What’s the one thing you could do today that would help you?
“If I could give anyone advice, I’d say, listen to your heart. You can do way more than you think you can.”
From this wonderful and life-affirming Cup of Jo profile of three women who did something extraordinary at older ages: Evelyn in Oklahoma, who got her PhD at 51; Sandi in Colorado, who became a professional triathlete at age 60; and Gail in Ohio, who joined the Peace Corps at age 58. They are amazing!!
