The high of good news
Oh, hi friends!
Yesterday I screamed “CUTE!! CONGRATULATIONS!!” on a friend-of-a-friend’s Instagram post about her getting married.
It warranted the all caps because I am LOVING good news right now. It is my drug?
Friends and strangers are getting new jobs, going to grad school, launching businesses, books, and major pitches out into the world.
Sometimes their good news is in the beginning stages or still in progress.
This warrants all caps, too, because, well, sometimes we need to coax good news into happening.
So that’s why I hope you can share the good news (or almost good news) with people in your life. You’re not bragging. You’re reminding people that good news is everywhere.
Also, feel free to tell me too and I’ll respond “CUTE!! CONGRATULATIONS!” — and mean it.
“What can I do today that I will look back upon later and be happy I did?”
Julie Bestry shared this article on Twitter awhile ago — love this question, especially at the end of the week.
A shot of Belvedere Castle in Central Park. While we were on a birding walk this week (it’s spring migration!!), the host mentioned that the castle was purposely designed to look huge when seen from elsewhere in the park.
The irony, of course, is when you get up there, it’s a teeny little thing, almost like a Disneyland version of a castle (still with great views).
This reminded me that sometimes projects can look overwhelming and intimidating from far away, yet when you come a little closer and maybe find the stairway, they can be ascended one step at a time.
Fun fact: In 1919, the castle was turned into a weather station!
PS — That's a little turtle at the bottom of the image, basking in the sun and his good fortune.
