Sing it out on a high note
Oh, hi friends!
I’m looking at my list of stuff to do today and among the fun things (collaborator meetings! fun workshop homework!), there are a few tasks that have haunted me day to day, week to week. By now, they feel like old friends. Email accountant, pay a bill, send that one single work email, whyyyyy.
These old friends are taking up space.
They have overstayed their welcome.
They definitely do not need to be cut-and-pasted over to Monday’s to-do list.
And here’s the funny thing about these tasks that linger:
- They end up taking much less time than you think.
- Completing them ushers in something new.
Let’s end the week on a high note by cutting down some low-hanging fruit.
Love this tweet that led to a TikTok which led to this relatable Glamour article about “revenge bedtime procrastination,” a phenomenon I know all too well.
One way to combat the nighttime scroll to nowhere, the article says, is to carve out breaks during the day so you feel like you have a bit of free time — and don’t leave all your ‘leisure’ until the moment you’re supposed to be going to sleep. POINT TAKEN, GLAMOUR.
This Will Wake You Up

Life keeps happenin' every day

When opportunity comes your way
You can't start wonderin' what to say
You'll never win if you never play
