Do you know how to vacation?
Oh, hi friends!
When was your last vacation?
Did it feel earned?
Can you plan one now?
I say this because, as you’re reading this, I’m on my own vacation.* (!!!)
But this brought up the question: Why is it so hard to carve out space for ourselves? I’m not sure, but I think, like with anything else, you have to practice—and keep practicing.
Maybe you can’t fly halfway around the world tomorrow, but hmmm, you could…you could treat your weekend like a staycation. How different would it look if you simply…unplugged? How long could you make two days feel? Maybe that's my dare to you! Give it a shot.
*Even though I’m on vacation, Brass Ring Daily lives on: I’ve scheduled newsletters to be in your inbox every day until I return. Old habits, you know...

I am critter. You are critter. We are all critter.
“There is no person living who isn't capable of doing more than they think they can do.”
This quote is attributed to Henry Ford.
And I'll turn it back around to you: You're capable of doing more than you think you can do.
Barbra Streisand has a hook-y new song called “Don’t Lie to Me” which also doubles as a political anthem. Maggie Haberman also profiled her for the New York Times. Good reading. Made me want pancakes.
You have to see this beautiful duck in Central Park.
Oooh. The every day calendar is right up my alley. (h/t Jenn Haltman and Allison McNearney)
