Your yes and your no
Oh, hi friends!
“When I say ‘yes’ to something sizeable and new, I ask myself what I am saying ‘no’ to. If I can’t answer that question, I don’t take on the new thing.”
Lately, I’ve been thinking about this quote—which the author Brad Stulberg shared with me for an essay I wrote about creating and consuming last year.
Every yes does, inevitably, lead to a no somewhere else. Yes, I can go to your party can mean no, I won’t be watching Netflix or going to a play. Yes, I can have a quick meeting can mean no, I don’t have an hour for anything else.
It’s a simple equation, but one that’s so easy to forget.
What will your yeses and nos lead to today?
I'm really into clouds these days.

“Happiness is something that we measure over time. Joy is about feeling good in the moment, and it’s really about these small and simple moments.”
