Have you forgotten what you like to do?
Oh, hi friends!
Yesterday I remembered that I like — no, love — to write dialogue.
That was kind of surprising.
How do we forget things about ourselves?
Maybe you’ve felt the same way, at some point.
Maybe something you used to do, or loved to do, or simply did…kind of…floated away?
You can find it again. No matter how long you’ve been apart.
Find the memory — and then start.
“Having spent 20 years in the workplace, it’s difficult not to apply capitalist logic to everything, not to think about productivity in terms of the number of tasks you accomplish during the day. Creative work is not like that. It comes from your deepest self, so you’ve got to make sure that you and your self are right. By right I mean you do self-care, watch your stress levels. I try to make sure I’m doing a workout every other day or walking or taking a bike ride.”
Enjoyed this tidbit from the author N.K. Jemisin in Fast Company’s “Secrets of the Most Productive People” package, which burrows into my brain EVERY YEAR.
This incredible tweet thread starts “I think everyone could use a lighthearted/happy story right now so here goes…” and MY OH MY does it deliver. I cried? I smiled? I was delighted thinking about how this will soon be turned into a children’s book? Sigh. Well worth your time! (h/t Julia Gannon)
