Rejuvenated
Oh, hi friends!
Last week, I wrote about not feeling creative or at a loss for what to say in these newsletters lately — and thanks to your kind responses and some good effort on Friday, I felt a bit rejuvenated.
On Friday I interviewed a few people for an upcoming story and coached a writer over Zoom, and they both made me realize I’d been missing that piece of the puzzle in my work.
Talking to people.
As nice as it can be to have a quiet space and dream up big ideas on your own, sometimes refilling the well means going outside the borders of the Google Doc. Asking people for their advice, their experience. Seeing what you can learn. I thought I already knew that, but of course, we have to learn some lessons again and again.
So if something in your own work or projects feels like it’s lacking, maybe it’s a good time to ask yourself: How can I look to the outside?

Some Good New Tunes
My friend Jack Adams just released a new album called Still Life, with songs written and recorded while he was living solo during quarantine at the beginning of the year. I was so moved by its honesty, inventiveness, and its tone, which captures something universal about 2020 — a yearning for something different, something more, and the hope that we might find it. Give it a listen (or better yet, buy for $7!) on Bandcamp.

Thanks, as always, for reading.
