Plotting out your day
Oh, hi friends!
I was on the fence about something the other day.
The deck was stacked either way, so finally I thought, What’s the absolute worst that could happen?
And the answer was...I could do a mediocre job and be embarrassed in front of other people.
But that...that doesn’t seem like a good enough reason to *not* do something, does it?
I would still learn something and move my project forward.
Caring about what other people might think shouldn’t decide your next move.
You decide your next move.
“Everything happens to everybody sooner or later if there is time enough.”
George Bernard Shaw
First I read this pessimistically, as in, the bad stuff will always get to you.
But then I saw it with a positive spin.
Wait your turn and everything can happen.
Learn to Live Without
I watched this duet five times in a row. (I even sat through all the YouTube ads.) Watch Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley sing this song from the musical If/Then.
You learn to take your coffee black
You learn to drink your whiskey neat
You learn to take the shower cold
And sleep on tired feet
You learn to order dinner in
You learn to send the laundry out
You learn how to amuse yourself
You learn to live without
You tell yourself you're rich at last
In money, and in time
You draw bath and then unplug the phone
You pour yourself a pinot, Clos Du Val, two thousand three
You sit a spell, a queen upon her throne
You go to bed alone
You learn to fall asleep alone
You learn to silence ticking clocks
You learn to pull the shades at night
And double-check the locks
(if you’ve read all this way pls excuse any style and formatting quirks in today’s edition, I typed it on my phone in the Mailchimp app late at night because done is better than perfect and I wanted to wake up tomorrow feeling happy about pushing this forward! okay thank u for listening have a nice day!!)
