Limitless energy
Oh, hi friends!
I spent most of one recent day complaining.
My gripe list was endless.
And at the end of the day, I’d done very little, but was exhausted.
I spent most of another recent day chipping away at work.
My energy felt limitless.
At the end of the day, I felt calm and prepared for tomorrow.
Two different outlooks, two different outcomes.
Is it that simple?
It could be that simple.
“Focus on the revenue-generating activities.”
This quote is taken from this Side Hustle Pro podcast episode about finding time to start a business. (I’m newly obsessed with this podcast hosted by Nicaila Matthews Okome, it's going in my upcoming round-up of the best finance podcasts for NextAdvisor!!)
She talks about why you should focus on one thing every day — not creating a to-do list with 8-10 items. Her argument is that the little things (errands, updating social media for work, admin tasks) always get done, but you need to focus on the major things to make progress.
She says those major things should involve what actually makes you money. Of course, right? But I think it can be applied to all sorts of projects. I often get swept up in mindless tasks when I have a story due, but have a feeling if you reminded me that writing a story generates revenue, I’d be a little quicker to shut that browser, you know?
You can also swap out “revenue” for whatever you’d like, depending on where you are right now: Focus on the creativity-generating activities, focus on the joy-generating activities. But choose one!
My New Best Friend Is a Mouse
The battery cover for my old mouse probably got lost somewhere in Zambia, but it’s taken until now for it to start leaking battery acid or something or other on my desk. So I thought: I’ll buy a new one! What a treat! And then yesterday I discovered: Not all mice are created equal?!
I had been living with an extremely loudly clicking mouse for my entire life. This Jelly Comb (?!) mouse has tiny little soft clicks, like a tiny little baby mouse. Who knew you could buy love for $11.99?
